SQAA’s inclusion on the EQAR register extended for up to 5 years

PUBLISHED ON: 15. April 2019

EXTENDING THE INCLUSION INTO EQAR REGISTER HAS BEEN, IN ADDITION TO EXTENDING THE MEMBERSHIP IN ENQA, ONE OF THE MAIN STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES OF SQAA. IT IS THUS AN ACKNOWLEDGEMENT THAT THE AGENCY WORKS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE EUROPEAN QUALITY STANDARDS, AND THROUGH ITS OPERATION THESE STANDARDS ARE FURTHER TRANSLATED INTO THE SLOVENIAN HIGHER EDUCATION AREA.

The Committee of European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR) decided that the SQAA operates in accordance with the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG) and extended the entry of the Agency to the Register by 31. 10. 2023. The SQAA succeeded in extending both the membership of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) and the EQAR for further 5 years, which places it alongside recognized European quality assurance agencies in higher education.

“It was a great pleasure to accept the news about the renewal of extending the inclusion in EQAR, which together with the extension of ENQA membership signifies an important confirmation that the SQAA, on the one hand, represents and implements the European values of quality assurance and, on the other hand, transfers them to Slovenian higher education area. Being a member in these international associations is of key strategic importance for SQAA, since it enables it to monitor the development and progress in the development of quality assurance systems and to cooperate equally with other trusted agencies in the European Higher Education Area,” said Dr. Franci Demšar.

All agencies aspiring to be members of the EQAR must undertake an external evaluation by independent international experts and on the basis of its content and other documentation, the EQAR committee decides on the further entry in the register (see attachment). This shows that through its self-evaluation procedures and external evaluations, SQAA has proven to be accountable for the continuous development and improvement of its operation. The recommendations made by the EQAR and ENQA committees, which the Agency will carefully follow, are both an incentive and a motive for successful operation in the future. The Agency has been registered in the EQAR register since October 2013 and a member of ENQA since March 2015.
